A few weeks ago, I went on an amazing long weekend to Los Angeles. It was good to finally feel the warm sand between my toes and bask in the California sun. There is really nothing like the beach or the ocean breeze. For me, there is something about hearing the rolling waves of the tide changing mixes with the salty air that brings me a sense of peace. Those things are just some of the reasons I loved LA and miss it to this day.
While laying out, I bought some chili-lime mango on the beach that was the most delicious and refreshing treat! The combination of chili powder and lime juice with the sweet mangos was perfection! When I got home I knew I needed to recreate the snack. This Chili-Lime Mango is an easy and delicious snack that is perfect if you are on the go.
While in Los Angeles, I got to relive my Cali. girl days by visiting all of my favorite places. After unpacking our bags at The Standard on the Sunset Strip, we headed out to ink in West Hollywood for a fun meal. We started off with egg yolk gnocchi and brussels sprouts. For the mains, I had the Baja sea bass with uni butter. It was my first time trying sea urchin, and I am still on the fence about it. We finished the meal with a desert I have been dreaming about for years- the apple dessert. This desert is like an apple pie and a campfire collided to make the most tasty thing ever! The next day we headed to Alfred Coffee for my favorite almond milk latter before going on an adventure to Downtown LA. After walking a bit, we worked up a thirst and headed to the Hudson in WeHo for happy hour. The next day we went on our beach excursion before returning to the city and enjoying our final dinner at Hugo’s. Last but not least, we went to Urth Caffe on Melose for Spanish lattes and breakfast. The weekend was absolutely perfect!
