I leave for New York and Maine in a week! I’m so excited about this trip. First I get to see my best friend who I only see maybe once a year. Second I am taking my first trip to Maine. I’ve never traveled to New England and can’t wait to check out the food and culture. I’ll be staying in hub of Portland and would love restaurant recommendations! Or really just any kind of recommendation of must dos in Portland. Even though I am not a huge fan of lobster, I’m pretty sure it would be a crime if I didn’t have at least a little Maine lobster. Right?!
It rained yesterday which normally derails my cooking day and makes me postpone my plans. Well its supposed to rain for a couple days so I made it work and you know what? Cooking and taking pictures in the rain isn’t terrible. I’m fortunate to have a covered porch which allows for plenty of natural light even when the sky is completely covered in clouds.
I made this cucumber salad the other night with the help of my sister. Well actually she made it and I was banned from helping! I am a tiny bit of a control freak in the kitchen. There I admitted it. I love getting a little help in the kitchen especially when I cook for my whole family. So it was a big deal for me to relinquish all control to my sister even if it was for a side dish. She had me taste test throughout the process to get the flavors just right, and I am so excited how it turned out. This is my sister’s first recipe on my blog but possibly not the last.
