Now that pumpkin everything season is over, it is time to give the best fall flavor its time to shine! I love apples, apple cobbler and apple pie. If I had to choose, I will pick apple pie over pumpkin every time. Sorry pumpkin. I am constantly searching for grab-and-go snacks. When eating paleo, you can only have so many almonds. These Apple Pie Spiced Apple Chips are the perfect snack! I packed mine in a mason jar to take with me to work. I also tested the recipe with two different baking methods because I understand not everyone has a dehydrator. In fact, I don’t have one. I borrowed my mom’s from the 90s to make this recipe! The oven makes the Apple Pie Spiced Apple Chips a little more crispy than the dehydrator. I liked both ways though!
I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because of all the food. For the first time in recent history, weather put a little damper on my family’s Thanksgiving festivities. It rained, iced and sleeted for the entire weekend, which basically forced everyone inside, all 30 of us. Some of my relatives braved the weather to go hunting only to come back empty handed. I guess the pheasants and quail weren’t interested in getting out of their warm homes either. I still need to learn how to cook pheasant other than frying it! It is a little too gamey for me, and the only way I know how to combat this is to soak it in buttermilk. Unfortunately buttermilk isn’t exactly paleo.
Does anyone have any tips for cooking with game meats?? Do you think I could substitute coconut milk with lemon juice for buttermilk??
